National Weather Service labels tornado in northeast Logan County as a F2 storm

The National Weather Service has determined that an EF2 tornado with estimated winds of 120 mph went through northeastern Logan County approximately 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, June 18th.

The path was 5.4 miles long and 700 yards wide. The tornado happened in the Prairie View community which is south of Scranton and it traveled northeast to the Dublin community east of Scranton.

This is the third tornado in four years for this area. Chicken houses, hay barns, shops, houses and other buildings were damaged or destroyed but, thankfully, no lives were lost. First responders were on scene after it happened.

Pictures were taken using the Sheriff's Office drone that afternoon. In speaking with some residents, they had a lot to clean up but were thankful of the quick response by Arkansas Valley Electric to get the power back on.

They were also thankful for the help they are receiving from friends and the community.
