A devastating two-vehicle crash on the Muskogee Turnpike Saturday morning has left two adults dead and several children hospitalized, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m., involving a Ford Expedition driven by a 29-year-old woman and a Honda Sedan operated by 31-year-old Hannah Ford of Osborn, Missouri. Ford and her passenger, 39-year-old Megan Herrold of Fort Smith, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Muskogee EMS.

Both women were students at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith.

Inside the Ford Expedition were four children under the age of seven, all of whom were properly restrained at the time of the crash. They were transported to St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee with injuries that remain undisclosed. The driver of the Expedition was also hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Authorities confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The incident adds to a troubling pattern of fatal collisions on Oklahoma’s high-speed roadways, particularly along rural stretches like the Muskogee Turnpike.
