Fifteen years after a Christmas celebration turned deadly, the name Antonio Diaz-Garcia still echoes through the halls of Fort Smith’s law enforcement community.

On December 25, 2010, just after midnight, a holiday gathering ended in horror when Diaz-Garcia allegedly pulled a firearm and shot two fellow partygoers--reportedly over a toast he found offensive.

The first victim, struck in the leg and hip, later died at a local hospital. The second victim shot in the chest, was transported to a local hospital s in critical condition. The incident shocked the community and led to a felony warrant for Diaz-Garcia’s arrest on charges of 1st Degree Murder and 1st Degree Battery, with no bond issued.

Diaz-Garcia, described as a Hispanic male, 5'5", 150 lbs., with black eyes and brown hair, was born on June 15, 1970 (also known by the alias birthdate August 18, 1977).

As Fort Smith continues to modernize its warrant tracking and community outreach, the hope remains that someone, somewhere, holds the key to ending this chapter. Until then, the case of Antonio Diaz-Garcia stands as a chilling reminder of how quickly celebration can turn to tragedy—and how justice delayed is justice denied.

Despite the severity of the charges, Diaz-Garcia has evaded capture for over a decade. His name remains on Fort Smith’s Most Wanted list, and authorities continue to urge the public to come forward with any information regarding his whereabouts. The Fort Smith Police Department has maintained a dedicated hotline--709-5000 or 78-CRIME--for anonymous tips.
