Motorcyclist killed in State Highway 255 solo accident on Sunday

A 34-year-old Lavaca man died Sunday in a motorcycle accident that occurred on State Highway 255 South of Hickman bluff Road in rural Sebastian County.

According to a preliminary accident report from the Arkansas State Police Department Vandever of Lavaca was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle North on State Highway 255 at just after 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Vandever failed to negotiate a curve and cross the center line then traveled off the roadway on the left side. Motorcycle then collided with two highway signs and struck a tree.

Vandever was declared dead at the scene by the Sebastian County coroner's office.

According to responding trooper Timothy Robinson the weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.

Vandever's death was the 369th in the state this year on Arkansas aroads and highways.
