Motorcycle accident Friday in Rogers proves fatal to 55-year-old Bentonville man

Officials with the Arkansas State Police say a 55-year-old Benton County motorcyclist was killed Friday in an accident on I-49 near the intersection with Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers. 


According to a preliminary report filed with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, George Lee Humes II, 55, of Bentonville was traveling southbound in the middle Lane of I-49 on a 2008 Harley-Davidson when he lost control of the motorcycle and overturned. 


Police say the motorcycle came to rest in the median of I-49 and Humes was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Benton County Coroner's office. 


The accident was worked by traffic control officer Marshall L Hill of the Arkansas State Police who said the weather was clear and conditions were dry at the time of the incident. 


Official say the accident occurred at 10:45 Friday morning.
