Monday afternoon accident west of West Fork on State Highway 74 proves deadly to Oklahoma rider


A solo motorcycle accident in Washington County took the life of an Oklahoma man according to a report filed by the Arkansas State Police with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety on Monday afternoon.


According to police officials, 51 -year-old Douglas E, Owens, of Ada, was westbound on State Highway 74 within the city limits of West Fork headed toward Devil's Den State Park when the 2001 Harley Davidson he was driving failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road. The motorcycle rolled onto its right side and Owens was ejected.


Owens was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Washington County Coroner's Office;


Investigating officer Corporal Randall Schwab reported clear weather and dry weather conditions at the time of the accident, which resulted in the 448th fatality in the state for the year.
