

A Missouri man was killed early Tuesday morning when he was hit by a vehicle on the Stephen Carr Memorial Boulevard exit ramp of Interstate 49 in Washington County
According to the Arkansas State Police report posted on the Arkansas Department of Safety website Melvin Harwell, 74, of Seligman, Missouri, was struck by a northbound 2001 GMC in the 4:30 a,m, accident.
Harwell was "in the center of the exit ramp," according to the preliminary accident report. The driver of the GMC was not identified in the report.
First responders found the body in the middle of the roadway when they arrived and the Washington County Coroner's Office declared him dead at the scene. His death is the 467th of the year on Arkansas roadways.
Corporal Shane Akire was the onsite investigating officer and said weather was cloudy and the road was dry at the time of impact.
