Missouri man remains behind bars in Washington County on two counts of Rape of underaged girls
A 55-year-old Monett, Missouri man was arrested Thursday afternoon by the Washington County Sheriff's Office on a warrant issued on June 18 for two counts of Rape/Sexual Intercourse with a Child Under the Age of 14.
According to court records, it was more of a transfer than an arrest.
On June 26 a handwritten letter by Mark Curl to the Washington County Circuit Court detailed how he had just reached a probation agreement with Benton County on a previous arrest for which he had served "about 250 days" and questi0ning if detainers from "Washington County, Farmington or Prairie Grove" could be made to run concurrently with his Benton County sentence.
The answer seems to be a resounding no for the moment, as he was transferred into the Washington County Detention Center to face the two Rape charges as well as three Failure to Appear counts.
After his Rule 8.1 hearing on Friday, Curl faces over $14,5000 in bond, an additional no-bond hold and a July 19 court appearance on the sexual misconduct charges.
Court records list a date of January 1, 2020 in which Curl stands accused of "knowingly engaging in sexual intercourse or sexually deviate activity with a person under the age of fourteen" on both counts.
Records indicate there were two separate victims.
Curl also faces another open case on the docket in Benton County for Felony Domestic Battery in the Third Degree.
Failure to Appear cases also show up in those proceedings, with that crime occurring February 18, 2020, just a little more than two weeks after the stated date of the Rape allegations.
No further information is available on the sex crimes because of the ages of the victims.
