Missouri man dead after Saturday motorcyle accidnt in rural Newton County

The Arkansas State Police says a Joplin, Missouri man died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle wreck in rural Newton County on Scenic Highway 7.

According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report, Orvall L. Nelson, 65, was southbound on State Highway 7 when the 2006 Harley Davidson he was riding traveled off the right side of the roadway. The Harley traveled 36 feet before striking a bluff and then came to a stop on the west shoulder of the roadway facing southwest.

Nelson was transported to Cox South in Springfield where he was later pronounced dead.

Trooper Ty Roberson noted the cloudy conditions and wet pavement as factors in the accident in his report.
