A Franklin County man being sought on a warrant for Rape and Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree was taken into custody Friday afternoon, according to information from the Franklin County Sheriff office.
Accrding to information gleaned from the FRSO Facebook psge, 56 year old Miguel "Mickey" Salazar turned himself into authorities around 5 p,m, Friday,
Salazar had been listed as a missing person after an incident at his home in the Etna area of Franklin County. During an investigation of the above charges, Salazar allegedly shot himself and walked into a wooded area behind his home. A search of the area turned up nothing on the evening of the incident.
A bench warrant had been issued by the Ozarks Division pf the Franklin County Circuit Court for the arrest of Salazar. The criminal information listing in the case accuses the 56-year-old conducted an ongoing series of Rape from December 1, 2022 through July 17 an charged his specifically with Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree for an act that occured on Juky 17.
The victim in the case was under the age of 14-years.
In Arkansas rape is a Class Y felony and carries a punishment of 10-40 years in state prison and/or life. Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree is listed as a Class B Felony with a prison term of 5-20 years (and/or life) and up to a $15,000 fine.
