Mena man dead after motorcyle accident on State Highway 8 in Polk County

A motorcycle accident Thursday night on State Highway 8 in Polk County has claimed the life of a Mena man and sent an unidentified minor to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
According to a preliminary report from Troop K of the Arkansas State Police, Jamon W. Maga 46, of Mena was driving a 1991 Harley-Davidson east on Highway 8 just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday night. Mega failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and the motorcycle left the roadway to the right.
The bike struck a ditch overturned and came to rest near the eastbound ditch facing in a westerly direction.
A minor passenger on the motorcycle was taken to the Mena Rgional Medical facility for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Cooper Mike D. Thomas, the responding officer at the accident scene, noted clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the crash.
Maga's death is the 18th of the year so far on Arkansas roads and highways.
