Men from Greenwood and Columbus, Georgia remain in SCDC on high bonds in separate rape arrests from Monday

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Authorities in Sebastian County have arrested two men in separate incidents, each charged with the rape of a juvenile under the age of 14. Robert Herbert Comer, 44, of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Jeremy Rashad Rippy, 34, of Columbus, Georgia, are currently detained at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center, awaiting court appearances scheduled for May 14, 2025.

Comer, a resident of the 3900 block of Whatahill Rd., Greenwood, was taken into custody by the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office on May 6, 2025, at 10:28 PM. He faces a single charge of rape involving a victim under 14 years old, with a bond set at $250,000.
Come remains in a special housing unit at the detention center. No additional details about the allegations against Comer have been released by authorities at this time.
In a separate case, Rippy, of Columbus, Georgia, was arrested on May 6, 2025, at 4:36 PM.
Like Comer, Rippy is charged with rape of a person under 14, with his bond set at $100,000.

Rippy is also held in a special housing unit. The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office has not disclosed further specifics regarding the incident leading to Rippy’s arrest. However, a report from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette confirms Rippy’s arrest occurred on Tuesday, May 6, and he remained in custody as of Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Fort Smith Circuit Court on May 14, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
The charges stem from separate investigations conducted by the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office, though authorities have not indicated any connection between the two cases.
