Mayes County takes an unregistered pervert off the street for the second time this year

Cody James Wilbur is still locked up at the Mayes County Detention Center in Pryor after getting booked early Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026, on a single charge of failing to register as a sex offender. He’s currently showing up on the sheriff’s office inmate roster.
They processed him in at 8:49 a.m.
The 31-year-old white male is listed as an active lifetime registrant on the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry. His birthday is May 30, 1995.
The conviction that put him on the registry happened in Bay County, Florida. He was found guilty on April 21, 2016, of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child. The Florida First District Court of Appeal upheld that judgment in 2017.
Public records also show a later related case in the same Florida county where he was found guilty in 2021 on a lewd or lascivious molestation charge. Beyond the formal charges and conviction dates, details of the original offense aren’t widely available in open sources.
This isn’t Wilbur’s first time in the Mayes County jail. Back in October 2025, he was held there on the same failure-to-register charge, plus driving with a canceled, suspended or revoked license and following too closely.
He’s repeatedly listed an address in Panama, Louisiana, while the Oklahoma registry has him down as transient in Mayes County. That mismatch is the heart of the current charge.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there’s no public word of him being released or facing any extra charges.
Oklahoma law requires people on the sex offender registry to keep their residence, employment, and contact information up to date with local authorities. Anyone with information about possible noncompliance can contact the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office. Like any pending charge, he’s presumed innocent until the case is resolved in court.
Registry records describe him as 5-foot-5, about 140 pounds, with blue eyes and blond or strawberry-blond hair, plus tattoos on his left wrist and both arms.
