Mayes County officials say lightning strike at popular swimming hole results in death of juvenile

A tragic lightning strike at a popular swimming hole in Mayes County on Saturday took the life of one juvenile girl and sent three others to a local hospital according to information from the Grand River Dam Authority.
Officials say the girls were swimming at Blue Hole Park at around 10:15 a.m. on August 5th when the lightning hit. The park is located just east of Salina.
According to information from the GRDA three of the girls were taken to the hospital and one passed away from her injuries. At least one bystander attempted CPR on the girl who passed away.
The names and ages of the four individuals involved have not been released.
