The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Dallas Mitchell Duflot, age 24, of Kingston, Oklahoma was sentenced to credit for time served, and 2 years of supervised release for Theft Of Mail, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1708.

Kingston is a small community of about 1400 residents about eight miles from the Red River and Texas border in extreme southern Oklahoma.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Madill Police Department, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

The Indictment alleged that on December 25, 2019, the defendant stole and took mail from an authorized mailbox or mail depository.

United States Attorney Brian J. Kuester said, “Theft of mail is not only a property crime. When someone steals mail from another’s mailbox, it is an attack against the Postal Service, a government institution we trust, rely and depend upon daily. The swift action by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service along with its local law enforcement partners put an abrupt end to the defendant’s conduct, prevented further harm to his victims, and allows for continued faith in our Postal Service.”

“The U.S. Postal Inspection Service will always pursue those who steal or misuse the U.S. Mail; we want the public to maintain confidence in the Postal Service,” said D. Glen Henderson, Acting Inspector in Charge of the Fort Worth Division. “This prosecution represents the partnerships we want to foster, starting with engaged community members all the way to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. By working together, we can reduce these types of crime and bring offenders to justice.”

The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the United States at the sentencing hearing.
