Law enforcement investigating leads, looking for "persons of interest" in Sunday morning shooting


Officials in south Sebastian County continue to investigate a homicide which occurred early Sunday morning south at an apartment in the 300 block of Plum Street in Hackett that left one man dead and another injured.


The shooting occurred at around 5:30 am and three juveniles and a woman were in the apartment at the time of the incident. They were all unharmed, according to law enforcement officials.


(Today in Fort Smith has been given the name of the male victim in the shooting but is withholding the release of the individuals name until an arrest has been made and/or next of kin have all been notified.)


The injured individual was struck with a baseball bat by the suspect --described as a tall, white male wearing a white hoodie -- prior to the shooting, which occurred in a second floor bedroom. the victim was shot five or six times and was dead by the time officers arrived at the location


At this time, the suspect, who fled the scene--has not been identified. Police are seeking "several persons of interest" in the incident.
