A Kenefic man who rammed a truck into a home and opened fire on its occupants has been sentenced to six years in federal prison.
Jason Edward Lewis, 48, pleaded guilty on February 11, 2025, to one count of Assault with Intent to Commit Murder in Indian Country, a felony offense.
On July 9, 2025, Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White sentenced Lewis to 72 months in prison, followed by supervised release. The sentence is non-paroleable.
The incident occurred on July 10, 2024, in Bryan County, within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation, placing the case under federal jurisdiction. According to investigators, Lewis drove his truck through the wall of a residence and began shooting into the home.
Law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting active gunfire. Officers encountered Lewis fleeing the scene in a damaged vehicle and apprehended him after a brief pursuit.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Bryan County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys T. Cameron McEwen and Jonathan E. Soverly prosecuted the case.
Lewis remains in the custody of the United States Marshals Service and will be transported to a designated Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence.
The identity of the victim has not been publicly disclosed.
