A head-on crash in Lawrence County last night resulted in the death of an Ash Grove man, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Matthew Vermillion, 27, was traveling Eastbound on Missouri I-74 two miles east of Mount Vernon when the 202 GMC Sonoma he was driving crossed the center line and hit an oncoming 2015 Infinity FX head-on.
Vermillion was pronounced dead at the scene. Forty-nine year-old Paula J. Parker of Aurora, the driver of the Infinity, was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment of what was termed as serious injuries.
The accident, which occurred at 7:55 p.m., totaled both vehicles.
According to the crash report from Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither vehicle had safety devices activate.
