Garfield man dead after Monday afternoon wreck in Benton County

The Arkansas State Police says a Garfield man died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon at I49 and Slaughter Pen Road in Benton County.

Officials say 69-year-old Allen Timbes was traveling northbound in the left lane when the 2008 GMC he was driving ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed over the median, crossed Slaugter Pen Rpad and finally came to rest after striking a concrete barreier.

Timbes was transported to Benton County Northwest Medical where he was declared dead.

Corporal Mike Morgan of the ASP, who investigated the accident, noted clear conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the crash, which occurred at 3:22 p.m.
