FSPD, SCSO arrest two women in connection with recent "porch pirating" of packages




The Fort Smith Police Deprtment arrested two individuals on charges of package theft, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison.


As part of Operation Nab-a-Grinch, the joint task force of FSPD and the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office, FSPD Officers arrested Bettie Nunn, 22, and Mary Dieringer, 28, and booked them on their charges at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center.


Nunn, who has been arrested several times since 2021 for theft, criminal impersonation, and failure to appear charges was booked for Theft of Property - Postal Package and on a Felony Petition to Revoke. It appears she has been sent to the Arkansas Department of Corrections as late as July of last year.


According to booking information with the SCSO, Nunn was released approximately an hour and a half after her arrest on $3,500 in legally sufficient bonds.


Dieringer, who also has a record of theft of property charges, contempt, and failures to appear, was booked not only for Theft of Property - Postal Package, but also for Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Dug Paraphernalia, Criminal Impersonation in the Ssecond Degree, Contempt for Failure to Pay Eines, and a Class B Misdemeanor Failure to Appear.


She remains in the Sebastian County Detention Center in lieu of $6,450 in legally sufficient bonds.


The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released when available and appropriate.
