Friday night pedestrian accident in Springdale fatal to 37-year-old Washington Clounty resident




The Arkansas State Police says a 37-year-old Springdale man was killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred Friday night in Springdale. 


According to a preliminary report filed with the Arkansas Department of Public Safety Julian Aldalco Diaz, 37, of Springdale was attempting to cross US Highway 71B/South Thompson in the middle of the block when he was struck by a 2012 northbound Chevy Spark at 9:50 pm Friday.


The report says Diaz was wearing dark clothing and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. Diaz was transported to Washington County Regional Medical Center for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. 


Officer Patrick Olcott of the Springdale Police Department work the accident and said weather conditions were cloudy and the roadway was wet at the time of the impact. 


The death of Diaz is the 117th for the calendar year in the state of Arkansas on roads and highways.
