Friday morning crash on State Highway 10 in Greenwood results in arrest for fleeing accident scene


The Arkansas State Police says a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 10 in Greenwood on Friday resulted in the death of one Boonevlle resident and the arrest of a second for leaving the scene of an accident.


According to a report from the ASP posted to the Department of Public Safety website, 61-year-old Ruth Greene of Booneville was westbound on Highway 10 in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler when a 1998 Ford Exlorer driven by 26-year-old Brandon Stone crossed the centerline from the opposite direction.


The truck struck the Jeep, forcing it to run off the roadway and overturn. Police say Stone fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later and arrested by officials with the ASP.


Greene was pronounced dead at the scene.


Stone was booked into the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon shortly after 2:30 p.m and charged with three counts - Driving While License Cancelled/Suspended/Revoked, Careless Driving - Failure to Maintain Control, and Leaving The Scene Of An Accident With Injury


Trooper Josh Porter worked the 6:05 a, accident said and noted clear weather and road conditions at the time of the impact.
