Friday evening UTV - motorcycle crash in Pope County claims Hot Springs Village man



A 51-year-old Hot Springs Village man is dead and two Gravette residents were transported to a local hospital on Friday after a 2017 KIA ATM and a 2020 Polaris RAZ collided on a rural stretch of Arkansas Highway 7 in Pope County.


The wreck on the designated scenic byway took place at 6:54 p.m. Friday when Jeffery Paul Davis of Hot Springs Village struck the utility vehicle driven by Marion Cannon, 59, of Gravette.


Cannon had slowed in the southbound land to make a left hand turn and was struck by the motorcycle driven by Davis. The impact knocked the UTV off the roadway into tthe east ditch while the motorcycle came to rest in the northbound land.


Cannon and his wife, 57-year-old Rhonda Mae Cannon, were both transported to St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Russellville.


Trooper Frederick Williams noted conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.


Davis' death was the 133rd traffic fatality of 2020 in Arkansas.
