Forty-year-old repeat offender lands in prison for six years on Sebastian County drug charges


A 40-year-old Waldron man with three major drug arrests since 2019 in Sebastian County was sentenced to a prison stay in the Arkansas Department of Corrections of six years with an additional nine years suspended in court proceedings Wednesday in Fort Smith..


According to information from Sebastian County and Arkansas Court Connect, Ely Rosendo Perez, who lived in the 1100 block of Washington Street in Waldron, received the sentence after a plea deal on possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia charges as well as a failure to appear warrant.


Perez was sentenced as a habitual offender in the case and was awarded jail trial credit for the time he'd spent in the SC ADC prior to being released on bond.

According to booking information from the Sebastian County Detention center, Perez was arrested on similar charges in the county in 2019 and 2021. He was also arrested in 2021 on a petition to revoke for his previous felonies.

In addition to a Sebastian Ciunty ounty crimes, Perez has been arrested on various misdemeanor charges in Scott County over the past few years.
