Fort Smith resident faces felony charge after assaulting family or household member
A Fort Smith resident was arrested by the Fort Smith Police Department and booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center at 12:52 am Monday morning for Felony Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member.
Sherman Jermaine O'Neal of Fort Smith remained incarcerated Monday after noon on a $5000 legally sufficient bond hold on the charge at 1:17 a.m. for the Class D Felony. O'Neal apparently assaulted a family or household member sometime in the wee hours of Monday morning.
Class D felonies are the least serious felonies in Arkansas, punishable by up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
O'Neal is due in court at 1:0 p.m. on June 4 to face the charges.
