Fort Smith, AR – Fort Smith Police have arrested 50-year-old James Edward Swinson in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on September 7th in the 1600-1700 block of South 21st Street.
Linda Pulach, who lives in the neighborhood, was out walking her dog in the early morning hours of September 7 when Swinson ran into her then fled the scene.
After a thorough two-week investigation, investigators identified the vehicle involved and its registered owner(s). Following interviews with multiple parties, Swinson was arrested and taken to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center.
He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident in which an injury or death occurred, habitual offender, petition to revoke, and contempt-willful disobedience.
Swinson has numerous arrests dating back to 1992 including Robbery, Theft of Property, Burglary, Forgery, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Domestic Abuse/Assault and Battery, Hot Check violation, Non-Support, and many Probation Violations and Revocations..
Pulach remains hospitalized as she recovers from her injuries.
Swinson remains behind bars in place of $54,100 in legally sufficient bonds. He is scheduled for his first appearance in court on September 24 at 9 am.
