Fort Smith Police seeking suspect in Third Degree Battery incident at Doubletree Hotel

The Fort Smith Police Department has issued an active warrant for a Fort Smuth man after an incident at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Fort Smith after a housekeeper was assaulted in a room on Sunday.

According to the police report of the incident, a female housekeeper at the property was cleaning a room about noon on Sunday when a black male entered and stated his sister was mad at him. The housekeeper told the man she did ot know his sister and when she called a co-worker for help, the suspect demanded she put the phone on speaker.


When she refused the suspect grabbed the woman and pushed her down on the bed. The housekeeper was struck several times in the face before the suspect fled the scene, leaving some property of his on the bed.


The police were able to identify the suspect as Robert Ellingburg III, who has several arrests in the Fort Smith area on his record. He had just been released from the Sebastian County Detention Center on January 16. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday and posted on Today in Fort Smith yesterday.
