Fort Smith police say suspect in April hit-and-run on Kelley Highway has allegedly fled to Mexico



The Fort Smith Police Department says the suspect in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in April of this year has likely fled the country and is now living in Mexico.
During the early morning hours of April 24, 2022, at approximately 1:30 AM, Fort Smith Police responded to North 50th and Kelly Highway regarding a hit-and-run accident involving a motorcycle, and serious injury to the rider.
Over the last five months, the investigation yielded a number of leads, including seizure of a Cadillac DTS that left the scene. On Wednesday, investigators were able to procure a warrant for "Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (Felony) for 21-year old Oscar Martinez in connection to this incident.
Martinez is believed to be in Mexico at the present time after flight to avoid prosecution.
