Fort Smith Police: Man died after being struck by truck on residential street last week

Officials with the Fort Smith Police Department have identified a Fort Smith man who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a vehicle/pedestrian accident on South 21st Street..

According to information released by The Fort Smith Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Public Safety 75-year-old Thomas Humann was mowing grass near the intersection of South 21st and South L Street at just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

According to the police report, a 1990 Chevrolet was traveling southbound on South 21st Street. The report says Humann was on the side of the road walking next to his house when he was struck by the truck.

Humann was initially taken to Baptist Hospital but was transported to Washington County Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to responding officers, the weather was clear but the roads were wet at the time of the accident.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.
