Fort Smith man sentenced to concurrent terms totaling 24-years in ADC for 2021 drug related crimes
A Fort Smith man who has been a constant thorn in the side of local law enforcement officials for the better part of two decades was sentenced this past week to a total of 24 years of concurrent terms as well as 21 years suspended after a December arrest for failure to appears on previous drug charges in Sebastian County.
Michael Christian Berdahl, who was living in the 1700 block of South T Street when last arrested, picked up a fourteen-year sentence on Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver charges and another additional ten years on other drug related charges in Sebastian County Circuit Court last Wednesday.
Both those terms were set to run concurrently
Sentenced as a habitual offender, Berdahl also saw several petitions to revokes and failure to appears dropped as a result of his plea deal in open court.
Berdahl's arrest in December capped a long line of interactions with the police and courts on various drug violations (including Maintaining a Premises for Drug Activity), robbery, forgery, and a myriad of other crimes dating back to 2000. The 41-year-old Berdahl has been in and out of trouble with the law for almost half of his adult life.
In addition to the imposed sentences, Berdahl drew a one-year sentence in the SCADC on various misdemeanor charges with that term set to be satisfied with his ADC confinement.
Berdahl awaits transfer to the Arkansas deportment of Corrections in the Sebastian County Detention Center.
