A fifty-four year-old Fort Smith man died Tuesday afternoon when he ran a stop sign on the scooter he was driving in a south side residential area.
Police say Wayne Dunmire Jr. was killed when the scooter he was driving failed to stop at the intersection of South 18th and South D streets and was struck by a 2016 Dodge.
The Arkansas State Police preliminary report says Dunmire was traveling east on South D. Street and was struck by the Dodge, which was traveling south on South 18th.
The investigating officer noted clear weather and dry pavement at the time of the accident, which occurred at 1:24 p.m.
