Fort Smith incest arrest results in $5000 fine, suspended imposition of sentence

A 26-year-old Fort Smith man avoided jail time but will be required to register as a sex offender after he was given a suspended imposition of sentence Wednesday in Sebastian County Circuit Court on a charge of incest.

According to information supplied by the circuit court, Nicholas Sean Kateridis-Klyne, who did not list an address with the court, pled guilty as charged in the case from December of 2022. Booking information at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center indicates Kateridis-Klyne was arrested on December 14 last year and charged with one count of Incest/Brother or Sister.

Obviously, details on the case were withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Kateridis-Klyne appeared in court with attorney David Powell. After he entered his guilty plea, imposition of sentence was suspended for ten years based on good behavior. The court also required a DNA sample and he was fined $5,000 and assessed $150 court cost.

He was also required to pay the $250 sex offender fee and payment on the fines and fees are set to start at $60 a month beginning June 17 of this year,

He is also required to enroll in the sex offender program with proof of enrollment to the prosecuting attorney within thirty days and progress reports to that office every thirty -days thereafter.
