Fort Smith habitual offender headed to ADC for fifteen year stretch on various drug charges

Drugs and status as a habitual offender landed a Fort Smth man in prison last week with a fifteen-year sentence on the backside of a plea deal in Sebastian County Circuit Court.


Dominique Buchanan, 37, who has been in the felony drug business as far back as 2013 according to Arkansas Count Connect, was facing Trafficking, Maintaining a Drug Premises and Possession of a Controlled Substance and Meth for Delivery as well as Failure to Appear when he appeared in court last week,


His arrest in December of last year for a number of charges came on the heels of two open cases for similar charges. Buchanan also had a previous property forfeiture of $309 cash and a handgun in 2015.


Buchanan is no stranger to prison, with his last stint coming in 2018 when he absconded from his probation officer and caught a parole violation. He has also served time in the past for Terroristic Threatening and Aggravated Assault.


In addition to his imposed sentence, Buchanan also had 20 years suspended in the court proceedings last week.
