Florida man gets ten years for June 2020 slaying after Fort Smith jury deliberation Friday
After a two-day trial and jury deliberations, a Pompano Beach was sentenced to ten years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for manslaughter and other charges in the death of 23-year-old Sando Sanchez Wright at a Fort Smith apartment complex in June of last year.
Alexis "Junior" Frankel was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on June 9 of last year, approximately one week after officers found the body of Wright in an apartment at the Pike Place Apartment comp0lex on June 2, 2020. Law enforcement discovered the body after reports of gunshots being heard in the area.
Frankel turned himself in on a warrant for manslaughter, first-degree battery with a weapon and two counts of armed robbery.
On Friday, Frankel was given a total of twenty-eight years on the four felony counts, but the jury recommended that the sentences not be consecutive. Since ten years was the longest sentence given on any of the counts, that will be Frankel's punishment minus time served. Frankel will get jail credit for 360-days.
Police have never revealed the motive for the killing. The victim was also from Florida, where he lived in Delray Beach and was a former football player for West Boca Raton high school
