Fleeing driver in an early morning car chase in Washington County killed when car collides with tree



A high-speed police chase in the early hours of Monda resulted in the death of a man in northwest Arkansas , according to information from the Arkansas State Police.


The incident began around 1:30 a.m. when Springdale police attempted to pull over 26-year-old Rokson Kabua near South Thompson Street and Robinson Avenue in Springdale.


According to authorities, Kabua fled the scene, heading southbound towards Fayetteville at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 49, where when multiple officers joined the chase.


The high-speed pursuit ended near Exit 68, when the 2011 Kia Sportage driven by Kabua veered off the roadway at the Garland ramp, collided with a tree, and overturned.


Kabua, who is listed as a resident of Pocohantas on the police report but thought to live in NWA, , was pronounced dead at the scene. No other passengers were in the vehicle, and no additional injuries were reported.


Trooper Matthew Walker of the Arkansas Syaye Polic noted clear weather conditions and dry pavement at the time of the crash.
