Fifty-three year-old Barling man dead after Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash in Fort Smith

A 53-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he ran off the road in the 4300 block of Phoenix Avenue in Firt Smith just before 6 p.m Saturday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, James Layne of Barling was piloting a 2020 Harley Davidson eastbound on Phoenix when he ran off the south side of the roadway while negotiating a left-hand turn.
The motorcycle turned over after traveling east bound once off the road.
Fort Smith Police Department worked the scene and Cpl. Andrew E. Adams noted clear weather and a dry roadway at the time of the fatality, which is the 58th of the year on Arkansas roads and highways.
