Fifteen members and associates of a South Arkansas drug trafficking organization (DTO), including two Los Angeles-based suppliers, have been sentenced to a combined 1,591 months --over 132 years--in federal prison, with no possibility of parole.

Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey handed down the sentences between August 7, 2024, and May 21, 2025, in the U.S. District Court in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Court records reveal that from August 2021 to August 2022, Christopher Walters, 45, of Magnolia, Arkansas, led a DTO that distributed large quantities of methamphetamine across Columbia County. Walters sourced the drugs from Michael Cummings, a 46-year-old Southern California business owner who also operated as an interstate narcotics supplier.

Cummings employed Robert Leonne Morris, 47, of Los Angeles, to transport methamphetamine and other drugs to Walters, sometimes by rail. Walters then coordinated with multiple South Arkansas DTO members to store, transport, and distribute the drugs, sharing significant profits with Cummings.

On August 10, 2022, the FBI, alongside state and local law enforcement, executed search warrants at properties linked to the DTO in Columbia County. Authorities seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, over 15 firearms—including tactical rifles—and thousands of dollars in cash.

Between September 2022 and March 2023, a federal grand jury in the Western District of Arkansas indicted the 15 defendants on 50 felony counts. All pleaded guilty to violations of the Controlled Substances Act. The sentences, reflecting the severity of the operation, mark a significant blow to drug trafficking in the region.

Authorities say the investigation underscores their commitment to dismantling drug networks and protecting communities from the devastating impact of illegal narcotics
