A University of Arkansas professor has been arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Joshua McGee, 34, an associate professor in the exercise science department, was taken into custody after Fayetteville police traced downloads of illicit material to an IP address registered in his name.
During questioning, McGee reportedly admitted to viewing the material. Authorities discovered a thumb drive containing organized folders of child sexual abuse content, as well as a hidden folder application on his cell phone. Some of the material allegedly depicted children as young as infants.
McGee was released on a $5,000 bond. Efforts to reach his legal representation are ongoing.
The University of Arkansas has not yet issued a public statement regarding McGee’s employment status or disciplinary actions.
