Fatal head-on collision on State Highway 7 South Monday takes lives of two Yell County residents


Two Yell County men died Monday as a result of a two vehicle accident on State Highway 7 South in rural Yell County according to apreliminary accident report issued Tuesday morning by the Arkansas State police.


According to a preliminary that report, Michael Glasscock of Centerville was driving a 2012 Ford Focus south on Arkansas 7 just south of Dardanelle when his vehicle cross the center line. The Focus struck a 2015 GMC Sierra that was traveling in a northerly direction and driven by 46-year-old Kevin Fox of Dardanelle.

After the head on collision the GMC came to rest in the northbound ditch facing south while the Focus came to rest in the roadway facing northwest.


The accident occured just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.


Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Yell County Coroner's office. Corporal Kyle Johnson of the Arkansas State Police noted clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the impact.

The deaths of the two Yell County man pushed the fatality rate in Arkansas to 113 for highway and roadway deaths un 2023.
