A 46-year-old Benton County man who was driving a car in which a passenger was killed in a crash on Highway 72 east of Pea Ridge has been charged with Negligent Homicide and numerous other felony and misdemeanor counts and is behind bars at the Benton County Detention Center.
Michael Charles Dattalo of Springdale was arrested by Troop L of the Arkansas State Police after being taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries i the wreck that took the life of 41-yea4r-old Chery Vicnair, also of Springdale.
A second passenger, 40-year-old Springdale man David Crow, was also injured resulti9ng inn a charge of Second Degree batter against Dattalo, who was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
Dattalo, who moved to Arkansas from Louisiana two months ago, faces a myriad of charges, including P0ssesssion of C0ntrolled Substance, four counts of Possession 0f Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing Governmental Operations, Careless and Prohibited Driving, Reckless Driving, and Possession of an Open Container.

Police say the wreck happened just after 9:30 pm on Monday on a stretch of State Highway 72 east of Pea Ridge near Miser Road. Forty-six Michael Datallo was driving a 2005 Mazda 6 westbound on Highway 72 east of Pea Ridge and north of the Wonderland Christmas Tree Farm when he crossed the road and ran off the left side of the highway.
The Mazda hit a fence and struck a culvert, causing it to go airborne. The impact with the ground caused the vehicle to spin and roll clockwise until it came to rest on all four tires facing north in the south ditch.
Dattalo is being held in the Benton County7 Detention center on a $50,000 bond.
