Failure to appear triggers violation of suspended sentence and costs Fort Smith man five-year-term


A 30-year-old Fort Smith man who violated conditions of a suspended sentence when he failed to appear on felony charges in 2022 was sentenced to five years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections in Sebastian County Court proceedings on Wednesday.


According to Circuit Court paperwork, Travion Darrell Jones (aka Fred Johnson) whose last listed address with the court was in the 2300 block of Savannah Street in Fort smith, was sentenced on the failure to appear charge as well as reactivated drug charges from a 2021 arrest.


Jones was initially arrested for multiple violations in May of 2021 according to information from Arkansas Court Connect. That arrest for Possession with Purpose to Deliver Meth/Cocaine or Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substances to Deliver , and Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons resulted in a 72-month suspended imposition of sentence.

Jones has been in custody at the Sebastian County adult detention center since an arrest in September 22 fr Failure to Appear triggered a violstion on the suspended sentence,


Jones also has a criminal history that includes an arrest for Domestic Battery in the third degree back in 2019..


As of Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Jones remained in the SCADC waiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
