Encounter with eighteen-wheeler leaves Johnson County couple dead in Thursday morning accident



The Arkansas State Police says a Hartman couple was killed Thursday morning and an accident involving their vehicle and a 1997 Peterbilt truck on State Highway 109 at County Road 2250 in Johnson County.


According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Jeromy Ross, 46, and Katie Jo Ross, 39, both of Hartman were in a 2001 Chevy traveling east at approximately 10:32 a.m. Thursday morning.


Jeromy Ross, the driver of the Chevrolet, failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 2250 and State Highway 109. The trailer of the Peterbilt truck then traveled over the top of the Chevrolet.


Both of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County coroner's office.


Senior Crp. David Smothers of the Arkansas State Police reported the weather was cloudy and the roads were wet at the time of the accident.
