A 56-year-old Elkins man who was arrested earlier this week on charges of Rape, Sexually Grooming a Child, Sexual Assault in the Second Degree and Tampering with Evidence was processed into the Washington County Detention Center on a courtesy hold for Madison County- on Tuesday morning according to booking information from both counties.
Phillip Wayne Woodson was taken into custody around midnight on June 1 and was released from custody at 9:50 Tuesday morning.
His charge information and details of this crimes have not been posted to Arkansas Court Connect as of 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night but bail has been set at $250,000.
Woodson was apparently arrested in Cross County on Memorial Day and picked up by the Madison County- Sheriff Office. He was booked out of Madison County at 9:50 am Tuesday morning and process3eed into the Washington County Detention Center at 10:38 am.
Sexual Assault in the Second degree indicates the victim was under 14 years of age, which dovetails with the Grooming charge.
Woodson's interaction with the Arkansas courts system has been mainly- for civil suits, minor traffic violations and divorces. A female with the same last name as Woods on did file an order of protection against the 56-year-old on Tuesday morning.
