An 87-year-old Bella Vista man was arrested on Thursday and remains jailed in the Benton County Detention Center on one count of Possessing or Viewing Sexual Material Depicting a Child, according to information made available on the Benton County Detention Center website page.
John Douglias Marbes of Bella Vista remained jailed at 11 p.m. on the no bond awaiting his preliminary hearing next week. His court date is scheduled for March 8.
Officials were able to track Marbes illegal activities after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to a search warrant where authorities located "a large quantity of child exploitation material" on various storage devices. Marbes was flagged and identified by his computer IP address according to officials.
He was arrested by the Bella Vista Police Deprtment.a
According to information obtained by Today in Fort Smith, Marbes resides in a cul-de-sac on Natalie Lane
There is no information on Arkansas Court Connect on Marbes concerning previous arrest or convictions
