Early Thursday morning pedestrian accident results in death of 42-year-old Fayetteville man

In the early hours of Thursday morning a pedestrian accident took the life of a 42-year-old man in Washington County according to the Fayetteville Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

Nelson Valdez, 42, of Fayetteville was removing a dead deer from the roadway on North Crossover Road near East Stone Mountain Drive at 12:18 am when he was struck by a southbound Toyota near the intersection with East Stone Mountain Drive.


The unnamed driver did not see Valdez in the roadway according to the ASP report. Officer Blake Campbell of the Fayetteville Police Department noted the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the fatal accident.
