Early Sunday morning crash in south Fort Smith takes life of Greenwood High School student

The Arkansas State Police says a juvenile--identified by the Sebastian County Sheriff Office as a Greenwood High School student--was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on the extreme southern tip of Fort Smith.

The SCSO released a Facebook statement Monday that said Garrett Harralson, 17, was found alongside Tennessee Ridge Road just after 2 am Sunday morning in a 2009 Toyota Tacoma that ran off the side of the roadway as he attempted to negotiate a curve.

The Tacoma struck a tree.

Harralson was transported to a local medical facility where he later died.

According to Sgt. Daniel Bazar of the Sebastian County Sheriff Office, the roadway was dry and weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident.
