Early morning I49 crash in Rogers on Friday proves fatal to 29-year-old Dallas truckdriver

Law enforcement officials say a Dallas truck driver was killed Friday in an early morning crash in Rogers when the 2020 Freightliner he was driving southbound on I49 ran off the roadway near Exit 85


According to a preliminary accident report from Arkansas State Police, Alfred Darrin Lucas Jr., 29, was killed in the rollover accident which occurred at around 1:39 a.m. Police say the truck struck an embankment and received heavy front end damage.


Lucas Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene by the Benton County Coroner’s Office and a passenger in the rig, Michael Lynn Sasser Jr., 40, of Dallas, was transported to Mercy Hospital Northwest in Rogers for treatment of injuries.


Trooper Britni Binan worked the accident and reported clear weather conditions and a dry roadway at the time of the crash which resulted in the 334th fatality of Arkansas highways and roads for the year.
