Danville man killed in head-on collision Friday afternoon on State Highway 154 in Yell County

A 76-year-old Danville man was killed and an 86-year-old Dardanelle woman was injured in a two vehicle crash on State Highway 154 at the intersection of Cobalt Lane in Centerville.

According to the Arkansas State Police, David Aackeret of Danville was eastbound on SH 154 at just after 2 p.m. in a 1999 Dodge Caravan when a 2005 Chevrolet SC1 driven by Ruby Cross of Dardanelle crossed the middle line from the opposite direction and impacted the Caravan in a head-on scenario.

Aackeret was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cross was transported to UAMS -Little Rock for the treatment of unspecified injuries.

Trooper Steven Payton noted clear weather and dry pavement at the time of the accident, which claimed the 565th Arkansas highway victim of the year.
