Van Buren man dead after two trucks involved in head-on crash on Higway 59 in Crawford Count
A 67-year-old Van Buren man died Friday in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 59 North near the intersection of Triple Creek Road in Crawford County , according to the Arkansas State Police.
A preliminary accident report from the Arkansas Department of Safety says that Mark Gibson was northbound on Highway 59 in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado when a 2002 Dodge 3500 driven by 42-year-old Michael Hale of Cane Hill crossed the double line and struck the Gibson truck head-on.
The Dodge was disabled in the middle of the road while the Chevrolet came to rest on the east side o the highway facing south.
Both victims were taken to Mercy Hospital Fort Smith where Hale was treated for undisclosed injuries.
Corporal Cort Williams noted clear weather conditions and dry roads at the time of the accident.
