Sunday afternoon crash on State Highway 59 in Benton County results in death of Gravette man



The Arkansas State Police says one Benton County man was killed and a second one was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon on State Highway 59 South of Spanish Travel Road in Rural Benton County.
Officials say 41-yeaR-old Warren D, Shepherd died in the crash, which occurred at 3:17 p.m. Sunday about three miles south of Sulphur Springs and just north of Gravette.
Shepherd was the driver of a 2006 Ford pick-up that was southbound in the state highway when he lost control while negotiating a right had curve and exited the roadway on the left side and struck a tree. The vehicle rolled over before coming to rest on the east side of Highway 59.
The second man in the vehicle, 41-year-old Soloman H. Elis of Springdale, was transported to Northwest Arkansas Medical Center in Bentonville for treatment of unspecified injuries.
ASP troopre Jaran McCormick worked the accident and said conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash, which resulted in the 408th Arkansas highway fatality in 2021.
